Increase in popularity of DNB exam as more MD, MS doctors opt for it to uplift their careers
Describing it as a notable development, Dr Prof Minu Bajpai, director of NBE, says, “In the last few years, there has been a steady increase in the number of PGs inducted by NBEMS in its accredited hospitals.
The competition in NEET-PG is high and the pass percentage is relatively low compared to the number of candidates appearing for it. “Fewer PG seats in certain clinical streams that are in demand prompt UG students to take up DNB.
The DNB qualification is considered to be at par with postgraduate and post-doctorate degrees offered by institutes of several European countries when it comes to employment. We have seen several instances, where an MD/MS doctor has failed to clear the exam and this highlights the difficulty level, standard and credibility of the exam,” adds Dr Singh.
The flexibility and accessibility of DNB programs, including their availability in various accredited hospitals across the country, make them a viable option for many medical graduates.”
